Steven Guarnaccia is Chair of the Illustration Department and an Associate Professor of Illustration. He is an internationally renowned illustrator and designer. He is a former art director od The New York Times Op-Ed page. His drawings appear regularly in The New York Times, Abitare and other publications. He has illustrated two collections of palindromes, Madam I’m Adam and If I Had A HI-FI, and the children’s books, Naming the Animals and Busy Busy City Street. His pop-up book, Skeleton Closet, was published by Hyperion in October, 1996, and his picture book, The Three Bears: A Tale Moderne, was awarded a prize at the 2000 Bologna Children’s Book Fair. He has designed a series of murals for Disney Cruise Lines, as well as products, including Box-O-Clox, a cardboard clock, and Roboboy and Lucky Pig, two watches for Swatch.

Rosemary K. J. Davis is the Office & Operations Manager for the Illustration Department. Additionally, she is in the process of finishing her Master’s Degree thesis at the New School for Social Research. Her research focuses primarily on the history and polemics of American art in the mid-20th century, specifically the works/writings of Donald Judd and Robert Smithson and the rise of large-scale, site-specific art experiences/installations. She starts working on her MSILS degree (focusing on Cultural Informatics) at Pratt Institute in Fall, 2009.

Ben Katchor is an Associate Professor of Illustration. His picture-stories and drawings appear in the English-language Forward, Metropolis Magazine, and The New Yorker. His weekly strips include: Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer, The Jew of New York, The Cardboard Valise, Hotel & Farm and most recently Shoehorn Technique. He was the recipient of a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship (1995), a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (2000), was a fellow at The American Academy in Berlin (2002) and the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library (2007). He collaborated with musician Mark Mulcahy on two music-theater productions: The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island and The Rosenbach Company. The Carbon Copy Building, a collaboration with Bang on a Can and Ridge Theater premiered in 1999.

Nora Krug is an associate professor at in the Illustration Program at Parsons The New School for Design. Nora’s illustrations have been commissioned by clients including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, the Guardian, Vanity Fair, Playboy, and Comedy Central. Nora’s work was reviewed in Print, Page and Jitter magazines, as well as NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and it has been recognized by the New York Art Director’s Club and American Illustration, among others. Her visual narrative work appeared in Le Monde Diplomatique, BLAB! and A Public Space magazines and it received the New York Society of Illustrators gold medal. Nora has exhibited her work in galleries internationally and her animations were featured at the Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, the Ogaki Biennale in Japan and the Sundance Film Festival.

Paul Nicholson is the Academic Advisor for the Illustration department. Paul earned his BFA from SUNY Fredonia, his MFA in from the University at Buffalo, and his MS in Student Personnel Administration from Buffalo State College. Paul’s past professional experiences include working in the Buffalo Public Schools, at Buffalo State College, and for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance. Paul is a practicing artist who has shown his art work at the Burchfield-Penny Art Center, CEPA Gallery, the Analytical Psychology Society of Western New York [The C.G. Jung Center], and the Collectors Gallery at the Albright-Knox in Buffalo New York.
